FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCE
Philosophy
The role of the Family and Consumer Sciences department at the middle school level is to prepare students with the life skills necessary to lead productive and fulfilling lives. In a safe and nurturing environment, students will feel intellectually, physically and emotionally secure.
Students are encouraged to show positive character traits including respect, responsibility, integrity, caring and citizenship. They learn that they have the power to control their future by making informed rational decisions, and recognize the probable consequences of these decisions.
In Family and Consumer Sciences we help students develop life skills along with positive self-concepts. This is achieved through an enriched standards-based educational program.
