Welcome to the South Middle School family. I am both honored and grateful to be serving as one of your assistant principals. The Great Neck School District and the South Middle School community are incredible places filled with wonderful opportunities and inspirational people. I consider myself lucky to be a part of this family.
I ask you to reflect upon your memories and experiences as Middle School students. What stands out most to you? Is it a test grade or a homework assignment? Is it even academic based? Or is it an experience (positive or negative) that helped shape who you are today? At South Middle School we want every student to follow their passions and create a legacy on which to build their future.
As I navigate through this website, I have discovered that it contains a wealth of information and should serve as a resource for everyone involved with South Middle School.

It is with great pride that I welcome the entire SMS community to the start of a new and exciting year. South Middle School is a truly remarkable learning community. The incredible faculty and staff of South Middle are committed to fostering your children’s social, emotional, and academic growth and to empowering them with the skills and opportunities to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our students are committed to their own growth and development and continue to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities that South Middle School has to offer. Our parents/guardians are involved in their child's education and supportive of our school. South Middle School is a special place.
The home/school connections are a critical component for student success, and in my role as Assistant Principal, I hope to continue to make these connections even stronger. The middle-school years are an exciting time when children embark on a new journey into the world of learning. I look forward to collaborating with Dr. Cartolano, Mr. DiBiase, the South Middle faculty and staff, and you to improve our school environment. Together, we will look for exciting, innovative ways to create a positive school culture and ensure a successful middle school experience for each child.
